This service is optional, for you and your potential swapper; however, if you are working with a mortgage company, they may require one, and chances are, they may even select one for you. But in the event they don't select one and require you to get one, or if you and your swapper want an accurate appraisal, then look in the yellow pages, or take one from our list below (the appraiser does not have to have experience in swapping homes; however, if you can agree on hiring the same appraiser to appraise both homes, you may get a non-bias and fair assesment on the exchange).
